ABIDOYE Ayodeji Iyanu
I am ABIDOYE Ayodeji Iyanu, a Registered Surveyor with the Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) and an Associate Member of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS). My professional standing is further strengthened by my membership in the Nigerian Association of Surveying and Geoinformatics Lecturers (NASGL); currently I am a Lecturer I in the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics at Obafemi Awolowo University. My professional journey is driven by a commitment to modernizing land administration and geospatial infrastructure in Nigeria, supported by my academic foundation from Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Modibbo Adama University of Technology, and Obafemi Awolowo University. Currently, I am advancing my expertise as a PhD candidate in Remote Sensing and GIS, where I am developing a multidisciplinary research work for an Integrated Spatially Enhanced Electronic Land Governance System specifically designed for Osun State.
My research focuses on the critical evolution of land management, particularly the transition from traditional 2D systems to sophisticated 3D cadastral frameworks. I have contributed to the global academic body of knowledge through several peer-reviewed publications covering diverse topics, including Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) data analysis, urban warming assessments in Osogbo, and the implementation of the Land Administration Domain Model (LADM) to improve land titling efficiency. My dedication to excellence in this field was recognized with the Best Paper Award at the 2017 Environmental Design and Management International Conference (EDMIC) for my work on information and construction technologies.
Beyond my research, I possess extensive field experience, having led various technical projects such as topographic mapping for the OAU staff housing scheme, second-order control surveys, and street guide mapping for urban centers like Ikirun. Within the university, I take great pride in my role as a mentor, serving as the Staff Adviser for the Nigerian Institution of Surveying and Geoinformatics Students (NISGS) and acting as a representative for the Global Youth Mapper Forum. My career is defined by a blend of technical precision and a deep-seated desire for community impact, a value I have held since my time as a Millennium Development Goals volunteer.
Currently based at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, my work sits at the intersection of surveying, geoinformatics, land administration, urban sustainability, and advanced geospatial modeling.
